What is ISO 14000?
ISO 14000 is not really a single environmental
management system (EMS) standard. Rather, it is a family of standards. The main
standard - ISO 14001 requires an organization to formulate a policy and establish
objectives that consider all of the organization‘s significant environmental aspects
and impacts.
The EMS must take legislative requirements
into account and apply the policy to all environmental aspects the organization
over which it can be expected to exercise a reasonable level of control. It also
extends to environmental aspects on which the organization can be expected to have
an influence, such as suppliers and sub-contractors.
