Getting The
Most From Your Certified
Quality Management System
(QMS)
ISO/TS 16949 was
first published in 1999. It defines worldwide quality system requirements
for use in the automotive supply chain.
ISO/TS 16949 is the culmination
of efforts to achieve global consistency in quality systems requirements.
The sector-specific standard was originally based upon ISO 9001,
1994, QS-9000 (U.S), AVSQ (Italian), EAQF (French) and VDA 6.1
(German). In 2002, it was revised to reflect the requirements of ISO
9001:2000.
The IATF has approved a
very limited number of registrars that can certify companies to the
ISO/TS 16949 standard. Smithers Quality Assessments is one of the few
such registrars based in the U.S.
