Recently, Smithers Avanza has expanded their bioanalytical capabilities by building a second state-of-the art bioanalytical laboratory in Ewing, New Jersey to continue to meet the needs of their clients. The new site will have capabilities including ligand binding assays, flow cytometry, and qPCR and will be GLP-, GCP- and CLIA-certified.
Mr. Rotella will have responsibility for laboratory operations including project management, study support, laboratory support, and supervision of the scientific teams.

Mr. Rotella has 20 years of experience in the large molecule biotherapeutic industry, with expertise in ligand binding assays. Prior to joining Smithers, Mr. Rotella was Manager of Bioanalysis for Syneos Health, where he led a team of scientists in the development, validation, and bioanalysis of assays for pre-clinical and clinical studies. Mr. Rotella previously worked at Bristol-Myers Squibb as a Sample Operations Lead, and at Janssen R&D in the Biologics Clinical Pharmacology Department, validating and performing immunoassays to support programs for key molecules.
Mr. Rotella is a certified Project Manager and Lean Six Sigma Black Belt. He holds a B.S. degree in Biology and Chemistry from The College of New Jersey.
